The USA’s federal aviation administration is proposing to fine four companies for allegedly violating hazardous materials regulations. The first company – British Airways- is said to have requested American Airlines to carry a cardboard box containing a chemical oxygen generator aboard a passenger aircraft from London (UK) to Dallas/Fort Worth TX (USA) on 4 August 2012. Oxygen generators are extremely flammable and are forbidden as cargo aboard passenger aircraft. The proposed penalty for this will be USD 195,000.
